Since homeowners rarely think about their ductwork because it’s mostly hidden from sight, they often allow damaged ductwork to go without repairs—or at least until something disastrous happens to their HVAC system that they can’t ignore. Timely repairs for ducts, such as sealing air leaks, make a huge difference in heating and cooling performance, improving both comfort and energy efficiency.

In this post, we’re going to look in more depth at duct sealing so you’ll know why you may need it and its benefits.

At Dayco Systems, we are committed to the communities we serve. We know we wouldn’t be here without our valued customers, and so we want to give back. We’ve done so recently by gifting a local veteran with a new air conditioning system. Here is his story!

“My name is Jim Beilfuss and I served in the US Air Force from ’87 to ’92. While in the service, I broke my back but it was not properly cared for. 13 surgeries later, still trying to deal with it all. Lynn and I have been married for 28 years, with 3 children and 1 happy grand baby! We are loving life here in GA. We moved here 7 years ago to get away from the bitter cold up north. Since being paralyzed, I have been introduced to adaptive sports and now I live to compete in wheelchair softball on Team USA, wheelchair basketball, adaptive golf, throwing the discus, javelin, and shot put in the veteran’s wheelchair games and adaptive CrossFit.

Being paralyzed has come with its downs, like not being able to regulate my body temperature, among other things.

We are so thankful to Bryan Zinn and Dayco’s sincere employees for all they’ve done to help us! The gift of an AC unit and install could not have come at a more crucial time. Thank you for blessing us as a family and for your continued support of the veteran community.”

Dayco Systems community involvement is an important part of our business. We focus on supporting local organizations. Some of those organizations we partner closely with include:

  • Mostly Mutts Golf Tournament Hole Sponsorship
  • Fifth Annual Children’s Hospital of Atlanta and Superior Plumbing Charity Classic Golf Tournament
  • Advocates for Children Food/Supply Drive for Thanksgiving
  • Advocates for Children Ducy Derby Sponsorship
  • Pope High School in Marietta – Baseball Team Sponsoring Aidan Murphy
  • Legacy Park Neighborhood in Kennesaw – Soccer Club Sponsorship

Unless you sell your home before this time comes, eventually you’re going to need to invest in a furnace replacement. No matter how well-maintained your heating system is, it’s going to begin deteriorating from good ol’ wear and tear. Maintenance tune-ups can certainly help it reach as long of a service life as possible, but in time, you will have to make the choice that the furnace has reached the end of its lifespan and it’s time to make an upgrade.

But, when is the end of that lifespan… how do you know? These are the big questions, and they don’t necessarily have straightforward answers. Not all heating systems are alike–furnaces have different setups, different manufacturers, and work in different climates.

What we can do is give you a rough estimate, and then dive into the factors that play into these potential lifespans. Read on to learn more!

What Makes an Efficient Duct System?

October 10th, 2022

Homeowners often underestimate just how important the “V” part of their HVAC system is–it stands for ventilation, and it means your systems’ ductwork! The air ducts are responsible for distributing the air-conditioned or heated air that comes from your heater or air conditioner and delivering it to the various rooms in your home that need it.

Damaged, dirty, or otherwise compromised ductwork can lead to a number of problems. It can impact your comfort as it affects your HVAC system’s ability to do its job, your indoor air quality, and yes, your home efficiency. Efficiency refers to how well energy is consumed by your home. The more efficient something is, the less it will cost you to operate, so the goal is to have really efficient HVAC systems, especially since they account for about half of your home’s entire energy use.

So, what makes an efficient duct system? Read on to learn!
